I thought he was Gay

My neighbor David now 36 was quiet, considerate, helpful and never seemed to date anybody. So, me being me assumed he must be gay, none of the men I knew were anything close to David in their actions or temperament. All boastful, loud and aggressive displays, David was not like that. My first insight to his manliness was when laid out my aggressive date, who expected more on a first date then I wanted to give. David told to leave, and my date tried to punch him. David, it turned out was an unarmed combat instructor in his marine service. My date was on his back in the blink of an eye, my date too stupid to realize he was well out matched got up and tried again. Back on his back, he got up walked to his car (convertible) and got a gun from his glovebox. Had he got into the car before going for the gun he might have had a chance. But leaning over to get his gun gave away he wasn't leaving vibe. David was beside him before he could turn with the gun, broke my date wrist to make him drop the gun. Police arrived just as it happened, another neighbor had rung them. My date was taken to the hospital for treatment than to a cell. Next day the judge cancelled his gun license for threatening behavior. Needless to say, I haven't dated him again, still thought David was gay, however. Only days later me and the neighbor who had called the police were talking, she had known David for many years as he lived with before going into the marines. His father had passed away in 2018, and his mother got Covid in late 2020 and having bad asthma caused her to pass away also. David returned after finishing his last hitch, worked in high end security according to the neighbor I also found out. Also had always been great at sports and not boastful about it in anyway. Finally realizing he might now be gay, I decided to ask him over for a dinner as a thank you for his help with my over eager date. He accepted we had a great time he was quiet as usual but answered any question I asked. Another dinner than another finally we started dating and fucking, marrying a year later and recently I'd our first child a son. I now know a quiet man doesn't mean he's gay, just that he doesn't need to boast about himself or his abilities.
