My father, 61, remarried 6 years after my mother passed away, but it wasn't a love marriage, more of a business merger. My stepmother, 56, was nice to me; my father thought I, 26, was a failure, as I wasn't interested in his business. My older brother was totally invested in the business. I was more interested in history and had trained as an archaeologist. I already had access to my trust fund; even if my father cut me out of his will, I was pretty well set up for life.
