Family Friend

My family is very well off, and so are their friends. One of my father's old-time friends had lost his wife years before to cancer. After years of being a widower, he decided to buy a wife. Not as a trophy, more as a companion; he wasn't sexually active due to high blood pressure and other medical problems. So, he got a pretty timid woman, the same age as me. She was just to keep him company, as they lived straight across the street from us. When he was in the hospital, she couldn't drive herself to visit him. My family drove her, which fell more to me than any of the others. I keep the family gardens and do any odd jobs that need doing. Failed at college, played sport for fitness, not good enough to be professional. But I liked gardening, so I became the family gardener. I got an allowance, not wages, mainly because I had access to the family wealth. Need a new work pickup, they would get me one. So, taking the family friend's wife to the hospital was mostly my job unless my father was going to visit him. At first, she was shy and quiet when with me. Over time, she started to relax when with me, so even when her husband was at home and at a party at our home, she would talk with me. I never made a move on her, as it would cause me a lot of trouble. But then her husband died; she was left alone to get on with her life. I was her closest friend, and it was me she turned to for any help she needed. Over time, we became lovers and then married and started a family.
