I'm an only child my mother died of cancer when I was 7, my father died when I was 13 on active service. My family is wealthy and so np problems money wise, I'd only two close relatives my father's older brother and his son. Also wealthy, my uncle thought military service was for chumps, and the wealthy were always better than the rest of the rabble. My cousin 7 years older than I, died of a drug overdose or bad drugs either way he died. My uncle called his son a loser for using drugs. I think he started using drugs because of the pressure he got from his father. As my uncle only relative I was his heir and he had bought an estate overseas and owned the local village and the farms on his estate. He didn't think much of his tenants and wouldn't improve anything on his estate. two years after my cousin's death my uncle had a stroke was in hospital for several weeks then had another stroke that finished him. I inherited the estate and at first was looked upon as another rich twit, they didn't expect much to change with me in charge. I arrived then 27 and looked over the estate and thought I could live there quite comfortably. I didn't need to be Einstein to work out I wasn't liked very much. But at least I could show I wasn't anything like my uncle. My first action was to do something to improve everybody's lives on the estate. It was easy to find the best solution as there a river running thru my estate and the bridge on the estate had been left to fall into ruin. Too far gone to just repair it needed replacing my uncle told his tenants it was their responsibility. I arranged to have another bridge built with two lanes so cars could pass while using it. It didn't get me any respect at first as everybody at first thought I would raise their rent or put a toll on the bridge. I did neither, I even visited the local pub bought everybody there a drink and told them I wasn't like my uncle and hoped we could all be friends. Their view of me relaxed a bit but one improvement didn't change years of mistrust straight away. But at least I was seen as better than my uncle had been, I met the pub landlord's daughter and asked her out and she accepted. After several months and I hadn't done anything to upset the tenants I was accepted as being good and not nasty like my uncle had been. Also, I had started a sexual relationship with the landlord's daughter and decided to propose and was accepted. Now years later and 4 children, I'm trusted by my tenants and most importantly respected. Something money can't buy, any problems my tenants have I will always help if I can.
