I'd to travel to a backward part of the country for the family business. I (29) got the short straw as they say, I was late to the family meeting and as result I was chosen. With luck it would just two days at most, I'd no luck I ended up there for five days due to sudden heavy rain and the flooding it resulted in. Luckily, I already knew there were very few modern convivences and had taken ample cash with me. A man saw me with plenty of money as he saw it, after two days he offered me his daughter (22) in return for money. At first, he was pimping her, he wasn't he was selling her and I could keep her for good was his offer. She was very timid and I think afraid of her father as well. But it also helped pass the time, my plan was to find her a job and place to live and so she could have better life. But I soon realized, she wasn't suited for living alone, at least not then, too shy and scared of everything. But I couldn't leave her there, I thought I would figure it out once I got back home. At least she had started to trust me and followed me like a puppy. We left as soon as we could, delayed a few hours in our travelling before we were away from the flood damaged areas. Back at my home, a two-bed apartment (family owned). I got her checked over for any health problems, only her being slightly undernourished was found. A full makeover was next; I told people she was a distant relative who had been mistreated. So, nobody pressured her and accepted her being so quiet. As I'd told what was happening, she quietly went along with everything. She was completely different looking when the makeover was finished. More new clothes more suited for the city, it was then I was surprised by a visit from my grandmother (father's mother) the actual powerhouse of the family. She had heard I was with a woman, nothing unusual about that, but it was always the same woman she'd been told. Which was unusual for me, so she came to check out the woman. After I'd told her everything and her looking over my purchase you could say, she decided that I should marry my purchase. Her reason was simple I was getting too old to be single and any smart woman wouldn't touch me with a bargepole. Only money chasing women would want me, my reputation proceeded me. Also, my grandmother had taken a likely to my purchase. So, she was staying to oversee everything, she informed my grandfathers and parents. My mother came to assist along with my sister, as to marrying her I wasn't totally against it. I came to see it was the perfect outcome for me and so I went along with the marriage plan. Second outcome was being recalled to the family estate, my wife to be would live with my grandmother until after the wedding. She quickly settled in with my grandmother who she trusted even more than me, I think. With the family women making sure she adjusted to her new lifestyle. It was decided my mother's father would escort her down the aisle, he also as a semi-retired senior partner in a large national law firm sent people to settle any outstanding issues with her father. There were none, he had used the money to drink himself to death alcoholic poisoning was the cause given for his death. With all the loose strings now tied, the wedding was just a family affair. My wife was always with a family member, and no locals could get her alone. Also, my grandmother could make or break anyone socially so nobody would risk upsetting her. I quickly got my wife pregnant which only made her more protected by my grandmother. We were having a daughter and had decided to name her after my mother's late mother which was expected of course. Now years later my wife has blossomed into a loving mother of three and perfect wife and isn't timid anymore she learned self-confidence from my grandmother.
